Not everyone's cup of tea! Actually, never something one can bet his/her life on, however being resilient to the wave of emotions one goes through, during the travails of life, surely defines his/her character of managing the grills associated with life.
What is Emotional Resilience?
One could Google up this term and find a million of answers to support their inquisitiveness. However, let me attempt to dumb it down to a layman's understanding -
  • Putting well being ahead of the stress of life, without closing on the issues that can plague the happy times
  • Rewinding into the old times, without the intent of carrying any baggage that could be detrimental to one's progress
  • Revisiting one's conscience to dig deeper into the crevices that may have developed over sustained periods of time
  • Experiencing a mental strain that shall define the 'threshold' value of an individual
  • Trusting one's judgment to select what suits his/her life and selecting the right kind of people to help maintain an emotional equilibrium
Affect on Normal People
Normal individuals can turn into emotional wrecks, if they hold on to the turbulence that occurs internally. Having emotional resilience is easy said than done. It can refine or redistribute one's cognizance leading towards exponential growth or spiraling demise. Being resilient isn't a choice, rather the only way out to ensure that life doesn't take a disastrous detour.
How To Become Emotionally Resilient?
There isn't no magical mantra nor are there spells which can be cast on an individual to 'motor' themselves towards emotional stability. Resilience is either in-born or developed through the outcomes of withering past testing times. A couple of tips to bring one's self up to speed with his/her conscience -
  • Eliminate the detractors who are perennial whiners. Stay away and/or even delete their very mention around. At first, it might seem like child-like behavior, however sometimes thinking about one's self is as essential as the manner of breathing in the right way
  • Disassociate with any element that can break you from within. It can also mean running away from a scene that can plague your mind and leave you in tatters. Sometimes making a conscious decision to move ahead, without looking behind can be instrumental towards mental peace
  • Jotting down every day's triumphs and mishits can sometimes be very soul satisfying. It generates a log of an individual's activities and how he/she can be a better person, by working on caveats, if any
  • Confronting an issue head on, with an impulsive reaction can at times be the best decision ever. It gives instant gratifications and can have a karmic like effect on an individual. #ANewHigh
  • Firefighting at times can be the only way out. Dodging the bullets of mediocrity and wearing a silver shield to make an individual shine, helps in reiterating the trust factor within one's self and makes him/her a superstar or the go-to-person in the eyes of others
Yes, #EmotionalResilience isn't an easy trait to master instantly. It does take a while, sometimes years. However, once a certain level of mastery can be achieved, life seems to take a positive turn and bring in a sense of pride and happiness to one's mind, body and soul.
