Have you heard about this before? The -CC- in your email; the Carbon Copy of an email, that keeps the most important person in loop, just to ensure that things get done, in an otherwise extremely extra relaxed corporate setup. Brace yourself for the power of CC in emails. It will save you from blemishes, if any were to happen!
This isn't done to make people realize the kind of support one has behind him/her, however it's done simply to emphasize on the point of speeding up processes.
Long before the advent of the personal computer and internet, coaxing would take precedence. It involved getting to know people personally, and sharing couple of cups of tea, with a few plates of crunchy snacks, to get work done. Dare I say cajole!
In the years after that, CC-ing has taken center-stage, and thanks to technology, transparency in job roles is clear. However, does CC-ing really help?
It definitely does and here's how -
- Gets individuals to think about properly crafted responses
- Gets teams to schedule timelines to ensure good productivity
- Leaves no dark areas, as everyone is responsible for the entire task to be completed
- Discourages bureaucracy and makes people nimble footed
- Encourages respect towards hierarchies (if any) and fulfills the need of maintaining amiable corporate relationships
Have you been CC-ed before? Chances are, you have been and felt the urge to instantly respond, however the best way to go ahead, is to consult with senior peers, discuss over a call/face-to-face interaction, and devise a strategy to approach the impending task.
One has to give it to the 'Power of CC' though, it can really get people to work as a team, no matter how much they loathe each other.
