Being part of a corporate setup, does make a lot of us interact with the Talent Management and Human Resources teams.
Finding the right talent to match the Corporate environment, chalk a career and be professionally amicable with others, is easy and difficult at the same time.
Not everyone matches the bill, however there are times when someone can surprise others, with his/her charm and resilience.
Talent Search programs and Referral Drives are perfect ways of getting people to congregate in a near-to-perfect setup to dive into the mindset of individuals, who are filled with potential, to basically understand their acumen and analyze their inter-personal skills. At demanding times, he/she/they are expected to react differently, operate succinctly and determine a course of action that firefights, and churns out desired results.
While talent managers have an enlightening experience in mapping such candidates, here are a few tips for them:
  • Potential is at times Private: A lot of individuals, refrain from flashiness at interviews. They like to be valid and to the point, and keep their flamboyance for a later day. I think this is a quality worth appreciating and admiring.
  • Being a visionary works: Try looking into the psyche of an individual. If he/she has a vision that can be molded to bring out the best, he/she is a perfect candidate. It works, if the visions is solid and clear. It's liking the icing on a cake!
  • Learn, Unlearn, Relearn: Hinge upon candidates who have two of the three qualities discussed. Modern office spaces and ecosystems need such candidates, who enjoy the process of learning and urge others to keep learning too!
  • More optimists, please!: A defeatist personality is a party-pooper and needs to be avoided. To understand one's personality, situation based tests works perfectly. Discussions on tackling issues and proposing solutions help understand, how much of an optimist one can be. The energy and enthusiasm he/she carries must be infectious
  • Digital Savviness: In our rapidly pacing world, going digital is key and embracing it openly is even more important. While the digital space isn't relatively unknown to a lot of people, staying current on trending digital technologies and their applications is key to leave a positive impression on people, during light conversations and meetings
These points could just be the tip of the iceberg and I'm sure there are many more valid points, that can be incorporated to ensure referral drives and talent search programs derive great value for organizations, and the Human Capital involved.
Let's gather to acknowledge the best talent, guide the new kids on the block and share experiences for everyone to learn and plan for the future!
Good talent always deserves the best in life!
