Kids can be a nightmare, especially when it comes to keeping them clean. While young girls do seem to groom themselves well and are quite responsible in staying neat, boys can be just the opposite! It's some sort of relationship with dirt and mud, which these boys have, that make them tough to handle.
I know this, simply because my mother had quite a testing time, keeping me neat and clean, just because of my inclination towards sports and the incredible outdoors. However, I must admit that she did a mighty good job, a making me presentable, with the hope that I could carry it around for a while; at least last for couple of hours
While kids at a certain age, are unstoppable in terms of getting physical, here are a few ways to ensure that they look decent enough, and don't end up like jailbirds -
(1) Wet wipes and handkerchiefs: An absolute must! Boys, and even girls, need to have enough of it, since sweating is natural and some of them, have overworking sweat glands. Inculcate this practice at an early age!
(2) Wash up constantly: Kids need to be directed to wash up before and after meals; even after a long visit from the outdoors. Have yourself do it regularly, to get them into the habit too!
(3) Cleanliness Drive: Encourage and reward cleanliness drives at home. It is the best method of getting kids to understand about personal and public hygiene. It will save them from diseases and make them achieve for it!
(4) Importance of Grooming: An important part of childhood, is to make kids realize that looking good is a virtue that can be beneficial for their careers and lives. A well groomed kid, is more likely to continue his infatuation towards being well dressed and well connected, as long as he/she notices parents doing the same too!
(5) Antiseptics, Creams and Much More: Keep kids away from harmful chemical laden products. Go for naturally made grooming products, which are not too hard on the skin and generate near-to-nil side effects. It is a chore to search for the right product, however, doing it right the first time, will go a long way in freeing them from potential diseases and derma-based issues.
Getting dirty is part and parcel of childhood, however it is important for us as parents, to give them freedom to express and even tell them, what is right and what is not acceptable. Groom them at a young age, no matter how much of a task it might be. They will thank you for life!
