Yes, Sirree! Malayalis across the globe (an the pseudo Malayalis) too have made this hashtag trend like crazy on Twitter, Facebook, and umpteen version of this song have been uploaded in the name of the #JimikkiKammal challenge.
Guess what, even I've jived to the song in my apartment, with absolutely no clothes on! That's how infectious and foot tapping this song is!
Part of the Onam 2017 release, titled Velipadinte Puskthakam, starting revered Malayam Superstar and National award actor, Mohanlal Nair; the movie has received mixed reviews in terms of the story and the plot; like a lot of Mohanlal's movies, or #Lalettan, as he is fondly known among his fans, across the world. However, this one particular song conceptualized in a college setup in Kerala, has spiked in acceptance across the nation.
The power of viral marketing, with good content cannot be ignored. While Mohanlal's credentials are unmatched, and even Amitabh Bachchan considers him as an actor whose repertoire of performances speaks for himself; Lalettan continues to capture hearts of men and women across India, USA, UAE and other Middle Eastern countries. His association with the #jimikki challenge, has pushed his fan fare to much greater heights.
The average Malayali has become very passionate about dancing, singing and losing control, in a sane manner. This is leading to an openness, in an otherwise reserved South Indian culture.
