Rise Up with some Rice In! #RiceRewards

A trip to South India and one finds paddy fields adorning the landscape of the towns and villages. With rice as the staple, one can find a lot of rice mixed or rice based dishes, that are considered healthy, tasty and give full value to the appetite. 👌👐👅

Red Rice is most preferred for consumption. This rice is unpolished, has all nutrients intact and is easily digested by the system, thereby supporting irate free bowel movement. Also, through strolls on a daily basis, Red Rice (also known as 'Palakkad Matta Rice') can be a great way to maintain a good hold on one's diet. 😘☝👏

Here are some dishes where rice holds absolute prominence:

Red Rice (3 palm sized spoon servings) with Mango and turmeric based mackerel fish curry, dark brown chickpeas masala and mackerel fry with chilli paste marinade. #BestoftheBest 🐟🐚🌽

Crispy edged salty rice pancakes with dark brown chickpeas masala in curry leaves oil splash. For best results, eat with your hands and don't forget to mash both the pancakes and the gravy, before setting it on the journey to the food pipe. #Flavorful 🍠🍛🍲

Rice, gram flour and grated coconut salted cakes (known as 'Puttu') eaten in two rounds. Once with a meat or veggie gravy and later, with bananas, crushed sugar and ghee; as a sweet dish. #PuttuPerfect! 🍌🍞🍚

Special Dry Fruits sprinkled Malabar Chicken Biryani:
A South coast special, generally preferred with chicken meat, however also tastes great with fish, mutton and beef as well. Notice that the grains of rice, are shorter than the basmati variant and the rice is cooked with turmeric, grounded pepper and salt to taste. The masalas and the meat is layered separately with the rice; generally consisting of diced tomatoes, sliced onions, red chillies, garlic cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and coriander for garnish. One can add prunes, cashew nuts and raisins to give the entire dish a royale touch! Raita and mango pickle act as the perfect accompaniments for this dish.🐔🍖🍒

Red rice (2 palm sized spoon servings) with squid fish curry and dry jackfruit 'kootu':

If one enjoys squishy and squiggly sort of fish, a squid curry with chunky tomatoes, and onions, along with garlic cloves works brilliantly with the red hues of the 'matta' rice. The gravy meanders among the grains of rice and allows it to soak all the rich spices. The jackfruit chopped into cheese cube sized pieces blends well with squid curry and facilitates reaching taste nirvana. #JackSomeSquid 🐟💧💫

Red Rice with Jackfruit and black pepper curry, tangy mango side relish and exotic homegrown beans:

Dig into some red rice, mixed with Jackfruit curry, prepared in turmeric, red chilli powder and black pepper as the main condiments. The tangy ripe mango side relish, with diced pieces of the homegrown green shade fruit, brings a tongue-to-uvula taste tremor in the mouth. The exotic homegrown beans with grated coconut is a worthy addition to the overflowing palate. 🍊🍅🌰

Reap the benefits of Red Rice when in Kerala and sail through the fare on offer, at the spice coast! #KeralaKuttanaadu! 🌴 #JoyrideofFlavors 😋😇👍
