Doing Away With Ennui At The Workplace, Personally...!!!

It's been over 4 months since "Ennui' crept into my workplace (read nomadic workstations) and I must admit, the state of ennui has become too much to take. As an employee associated with the Sales and Marketing Support Team, the possibilities of supporting multiple teams, visiting new locations where company offices are located internationally and working meticulously to meet targets to market products/services are endless. Yet, being tied to a seat and having zilch access to any sort of substantial work can really make an employee think twice about his capabilities.

With my current team totally oblivious about their support members like myself in remote locations like India supporting the Americas, it is totally uninspiring to come into office and 'spend' hours over the laptop. To keep myself going, earlier I used to proactively call up clients to build relationships in lieu of them looking out for our company's support in the near future. Later, I realized that if the organization does not look to credit my proactive efforts, why should I even bother?

While I do get advise about being patient and striking when the iron is hot, i.e. being a constant public face within the organization's workforce, I have always believed that having some substance to initiate a meaningful conversation should be the right motto to be followed. This has lead me to be constantly in touch with worldly affairs and have mini-debates with colleagues to get fresh perspectives and thereby improve my thought process and over view towards daily affairs.

I do hope my inbuilt characteristics of patience, methodical approach, meaningful conversations and thought provoking conceptualisation assists me in looking ahead with vigor and brings new opportunities to interact with people of varied cultures and visit international locales to boost my confidence and make me love what I do.
